"Sweet Dreams" |
The annual Richland Center WRAP show and workshop concluded on March 19th.
Held at the Schmitt Woodland Hills Retirement Community (SWHRC), the exhibit was co-sponsored by the Red Door Gallery (RDG) which was founded and is run by local artists in the Richland Area Arts Council, and by the Association of Wisconsin Artists (AWA), a non-profit membership organization that sponsors WRAP exhibits for non-professional artists throughout Wisconsin in conjunction with local arts organizations or sponsors.
Fifteen local and regional artists participated. Here's is a link to the online version of the show. It was a small but very impressive show.
The show judge was Lorna Filippini, a Mineral Point professional painter who works in a variety of paint media and has incredible drawing skills. She and her partner ran Sugar Row, a small gallery in Mineral Point, for several years. She was university trained and has been a life-long artist. Because of her training and experience running a gallery, she is conversant with a wide variety of media. Check out her website for a look at her work, lornafilippini.com.I entered two of my small mixed media portrait collages - "Sweet Dreams", a matted and framed piece on paper, and "If You Say So" mounted on a board. "Sweet Dreams" was given one of the State Awards so I will be submitting it to the WRAP State Show later this year.
